Harpoon a Fish How to Get XP: Claim the Available Rewards

Last updated 2026-10-18Unofficial player article

How to Get XP

  • Answer: Check the current creator reward for its listed 3,000 XP bonus.
  • Use it: Claim Playtime Rewards when the game offers them and read the contents.
  • Next step: Use a normal fishing or aquarium goal between reward checks instead of planning around an assumed XP rate.

Take the creator reward while it is offered

Start with the current Codes page. The official Harpoon a Fish description lists a code reward of 3,000 XP and 3 Ruby Keys. Use the exact entry in the game’s redemption field, submit it and read the response before counting the XP in your plan.

Keep that bonus attached to the claim you actually made. It is a named reward opportunity, rather than a fixed income rate for every minute of play. You can take the available bonus and then return to the task that motivated the session, such as a missing fish or an aquarium pet.

Check Playtime Rewards during the session

Playtime Rewards offer claims including XP and potions. Use the claim when it is available, and read the reward assigned to the current panel. This is a concrete action you can fit into an island visit between dives.

Do not assume that every claim has the same payout or that a remembered timer applies to every reward. Let the current offer tell you what is available. If it gives a different resource, keep that result for its own use instead of treating the claim as a failed version of the XP reward you expected.

Choose something useful to do between claims

Finish a reachable catch, work on the ingredient requested by a crafting task or return to a kept aquarium pet. Those are ordinary session goals that give the time between reward checks a purpose. The tutorial connects fishing, table progression, crafting and equipment management instead of presenting the reward menu as the whole game.

For a depth goal, character weight is the relevant access progression. For a capture goal, aim, fire and timed reeling remain central. An XP bonus can be welcome alongside either task, while the task itself tells you what to do next. This keeps the session directed even when no new reward is currently waiting.

Read the result before choosing another reward task

After a claim, check what the game says you received and which part of your plan it serves. XP, potions and keys should not all be treated as another money purchase. A crate opening also asks for a particular key, so keep that acquisition decision separate from collecting an XP offer.

The XP guide explains those resource distinctions. If your next objective is reaching new water, continue with deeper diving. A useful XP routine is short and specific: take the current creator opportunity, claim the playtime reward actually offered and keep ordinary fishing or pet progress moving between those checks. There is no need to promise a universal fastest rate to make those available rewards worthwhile.
