Crates Guide

  • Answer: Match the key icon and requirement displayed for the crate you want to open.
  • Use it: The tutorial shows Wood, Stone, Stun and Star crate labels, with equipment, XP and key rewards among the examples.
  • Next step: A weapon obtained from a crate still needs a place in the active equipment set.

Choose an opening for the reward goal

Crates are part of Harpoon a Fish’s island reward loop. The crate screen includes Wood, Stone, Stun and Star, with equipment and other rewards among the opening results. Choose the opening for the goal you have now instead of treating every box as the same purchase.

A weapon opportunity belongs to equipment acquisition. An XP or key result belongs to a different resource decision. Keeping that purpose clear makes it easier to stop after the opening you intended, rather than continue through every available counter without deciding what the results are meant to do.

Match the key requested by the box

Use the displayed key type and requirement for the intended crate. The tutorial shows separate counters, so keep the balance attached to the opening it can pay for. A reward named Ruby Keys should not turn every Wood or Stone box into an interchangeable use of the same currency.

Check the current reward panel and key counter before confirming an opening. The Ruby Key guide explains the creator reward and why its key portion should remain separate from XP. This is a useful distinction even when several resources arrive from one claim: they can support different next actions on the island.

Put equipment rewards into the active set

Crates can award spear equipment, including Lava Harpoon. Treat that as an example of equipment acquisition, rather than a promise that the next opening supplies the same named item. Once you receive a tool, give it a place in the equipment decision before returning to the water.

Use the active set and Equip Best controls demonstrated in the tutorial. Additional slots are a separate money purchase when you want to field another available harpoon. Owning more equipment, expanding the active set and pursuing a particular crate weapon are connected goals, but they are not the same completed action.

Return to the task the reward serves

After opening, read what arrived and choose its next role. A tool leads back to the harpoon set. XP is a resource reward. A key asks you to identify the next matching opening before you use it. You can finish that decision and return to fishing instead of continuing simply because another menu remains available.

The harpoon guide is the useful next step after an equipment result. Choose a reachable catch and complete the aim-fire-reel sequence with the set you field. A crate session has served its purpose when you have used the reward in the plan you chose, rather than when every available key has been spent.
